LYNX Technik Expands Yellobrik and Series 5000 Capabilities with New Firmware Enabling 12-bit 4:4:4 & RGB Support
Weiterstadt, Germany — 25.11.2025 — LYNX Technik, a global leader in modular signal processing solutions, today announced the release of a new firmware update for several models in its popular yellobrik and Series 5000 product ranges. Offered free of charge, the update expands video processing support to include 12-bit 4:4:4 and RGB formats, in addition to 8-bit and 10-bit YCbCr.
The new firmware enhances compatibility with professional broadcast and AV workflows requiring full-bandwidth color sampling, high-precision processing, and uncompromised image quality. With these new modes, yellobrik devices can now interface more seamlessly with high-end cameras, grading and monitoring systems, LED walls, and broadcast infrastructure requiring full-fidelity RGB signals.
“We developed this update in response to customers who need increased color precision and format flexibility without changing their hardware investment,” said Vincent Noyer, CTO at Lynx Technik AG. “This upgrade reflects our commitment to extending product lifecycle value while keeping systems adaptable to evolving standards.”
The 4:4:4 chroma sub-sampling preserves full color information, eliminating the chroma data loss associated with 4:2:2 processing. Combined with 12-bit color depth, this delivers over 68 billion possible color values per channel resulting in smoother color gradations and enhanced HDR performance.
The update also adds Dolby Digital Plus and Atmos JOC audio support, along with general stability enhancements.
Supported Lynx Technik modules
- HDMI converters for monitoring, ingest, and display workflows.
- Frame synchronizers for broadcast signal integration and timing
PVD 1400, PVD 5400 O - Audio embedders/de-embedders where precision video processing is required alongside embedded audio workflows.
PDM 1484 B, PDM 1484 D, PDM 5248 UO DO, PDM 5348 O
Key Enhancements
- New 4:4:4 chroma sampling support
- New 12-bit color depth support
- RGB mode options alongside existing YCbCr formats
- Added support for Dolby Digital Plus and Atmos JOC audio formats
- Enhanced signal stability and processing consistency
The update aligns with LYNX Technik’s ongoing strategy to provide long-term support for yellobrik hardware through free software enhancements, ensuring that deployed systems remain future-proof.
